SeaM Polaris Multifunction / SpeedM X-33 Prototype

Category: proof of principle, proof of concept

Description: Stainless steel, experimentally cased prototype. Stainless steel case back fixed with four screws, hand inscribed with blue sharpie ‘AVOR’ . White, brass, circular dial with black printed minute track. Anthracite, central, digital display with golden cyphers. Silver coloured brass hands. Dark blue, ABS plastic, crown in style of the ones found on ‘Seamaster Mariner III’ pocket watch. Mineral crystal.

Dimensions: 38mm (without crown), no lugs

Movement: ETA 988.331 based Omega cal.: 1665 prototype with circular LCD module (ca. 1984)

Additional info: This piece represents one of the earliest known prototypes for these Omega models. The ETA cal.: 988.331, which is the base of this prototype, seems to have been modified by hand in order to accept the alternate round display, the original display for the underlying ETA calibre being rectangular.

The lacking lugs make this prototype not wearable and thus it can not be considered a ‘functional prototype’, it is still in the phase of ‘proof of principle’.
